Project “Tet Holidays with Children in Xom Cui”

Inspired by a famous and meaningful Vietnamese folk verse:

“Bau oi thuong lay bi cung

Tuy rang khac giong nhung chung mot gian”

(“Oh gourd, love the squash!

Though of different species, you share the same trellis!”)

Bau Bi Group was set up by a group of young professionals working and living in Ho Chi Minh City, with an effort to engage in community activities, especially focusing on children with less favourable conditions.

The Year of the Cat is coming with success, happiness and prosperity. We all know that when the New Year arrives, the Tet holidays come along. You can feel in the air people’s excitement about the Tet holidays. But somewhere in Ho Chi Minh City, some children may not have such luxury taste to have a proper Tet holidays. They have to work for living. Thus, Bau Bi Group has decided to carry out its second Project “Tet Holidays with Children in Xom Cui”.

1. Project Objectives:

The Project “Tet Holidays with Children in Xom Cui” aims to raise funds and call for donations in order to help children in Xom Cui, Binh Hung Ward, Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City, whose parents are mostly poor immigrants, to have a good time during the coming Tet holidays. In this Project, Bau Bi Group will also organize and join a community day for environment with locals at Xom Cui and other supporters in order to raise awareness of locals on their living environment conditions.
Our targets are to raise at least VND15 million within the Project Schedule and donations in kind from corporate entities for this Project.

2. Our Actions:

Bau Bi Group will raise funds and call for donations through its members’ networks of connections. Bau Bi Group’s Facebook page will be the portal of our actions. Please visit our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/baubigroup for further information on fund/donation calling. Funds will be used to buy foods and other basic goods for Tet holidays. These goods and donations in kind from corporate entities will be delivered in person as gifts to children in Xom Cui on 16 January 2011.

Bau Bi Group will also organise a community day for environment in Xom Cui with participation of local people in Xom Cui and approximately 20 volunteers. Bau Bi Group welcomes supporters and anyone who would like to engage in community activities to join us in this Project. Activities in such community day will include: (i) cleaning and clearing wastes and rubbish in the area; and (ii) communicating with local people regarding the impacts of environmental pollution.

3. Project Schedule:

   30/12/2010 - 09/01/2011:	Fund and donation calling; and seeking volunteers.
   09/01/2011 - 15/01/2011:	Purchasing goods and finalizing donations in kind from corporate entities; allocating goods and donations; and gift packaging.
   16/01/2011:	Delivering gifts to children in Xom Cui; and carrying out community day activities.
   17/01/2011 - 30/01/2011:	Finalizing the Project, preparing and publishing the Project’s financial reports.

4. Donations:

Donations could be made in cash or in kind; and transferred directly to our following bank account or collected in person.
